Cardiac catherization laboratories (also known as cath labs) are a minimally invasive tool to diagnose and treat patients with heart conditions. The word “catherization” is derived from the small, flexible tubes called catheters that are used during the procedure. These catheters allow access to the heart and blood vessels without surgery.
